Path Valley Releases 2005 Racing Schedule

Spring Run PA__ Two Wheel Promotions has chosen the hometown Chambersburg Mall Racing Show for the formal release of an exciting 2005 Path Valley Speedway Park racing schedule.

The Chambersburg Mall show opens at 10 a.m. Jan. 27 and is open during mall hours until 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30. The schedule was previewed at the York Fairgrounds Dirt Trackin race show and will simultaneously be published on the track's website at www.pathvalley.com. Very minor rules clarifications for the Strictly Stocks and 600 Sprints will also be available on the website.

The Path Valley season opens at noon March 12 with Bug Day for the 270 Sprints, 600 Sprints, 305 Sprints, Mini Stocks, Thunder Cars, Legends, Hobby Stocks and Strictly Stock junkyard cars. Bug Day offers all the teams a chance to work out the 'bugs' in their machines, and the next day, March 13 is a rain date.

Bug Day for Karts, Quads and Motorcycles is the following Saturday, March 19, with again a rain date Sunday, March 20. The first points race is Friday night, March 25, with gates open at 5 p.m.

As in past years, the 2005 schedule is subject to change, with lots of notice ahead of time. Senior Race Director John Winsett explains that the owners and track operators are also racers and understand that schedules sometimes need to be adjusted for bad weather and other opportunities.

The only major change racers might notice in 2005, according to business manager Vicki Flowers, is that the track will pay purses after each racing event rather than wait a week.

Every Friday night race features the 600 Sprints, 270 Sprints, Mini Stocks and Thunder Cars. The V-8 Hobby Stocks will race every other week and the PA 305 Sprints and Legends Cars will race the nights the Hobby Stocks are off.

Four-wheelers get the most action of any class as they race Saturday afternoons with the karts and again alternate Saturday nights with the AMA motorcycles. The Strictly Stock junkyard cars race on 15 Saturday nights for V-8, six cylinder and four cylinder classes.

The season concludes with a motorcycle and quads race Oct. 15, followed by the Awards Banquet which is traditionally the Saturday before Thanksgiving.

The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike. From March to October, Path Valley races stock cars and sprints Friday nights, karts on Saturday afternoons and AMA bikes or Strictly Stock junkyard cars Saturday nights.

The phone number at the track is 717-349-7111. For information on the 2004 schedule and rules, race teams and fans can consult the website at www.pathvalley.com or they can email Two Wheel Promotions at twp@pathvalley.com.
