An official Guinness World Record has been set at Rockingham for the fastest average speed around an oval race circuit on a motorcycle.
600cc British Supersport Series racer Rob Frost clinched the record time of 122.03mph around the banked oval track, leaving Two Wheels Only's Gus Scott and Superbikes Jamie Wilkins wallowing in his wake.
Rob set the new record on his Suzuki GSX-R1000 on his last run of the day, beating his previous best of 120.80mph. "It felt a lot faster than 122mph, but that's because it's a banked oval. It's been a fantastic day, I've walked away with a world record and I couldn't be happier."
Over 500 riders took the chance to ride on Rockingham's National race circuit over the weekend, the busiest track activity ever staged at the UK's newest racing venue. With stunt riders wowing the crowd with their death defying displays and with plenty of things to do both on and off the track, the first running of The Blast received an unanimous thumbs up from participants and spectators alike.
