FORT WORTH-DALLAS (May 2, 2000) - The Wrenchead.com National Dirt Track Series gets off to a roaring start at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track Saturday night, May 6 with Motorcycle Mania.
Defending national champion motorcycle rider Chris Carr will compete in the new flat track series vying for a share of the $45,000 purse at the inaugural May 6 event. The winner of the Saturday's feature event will take home $7,500.
Fans will have the chance to meet drivers such as Carr, Jay Springsteen and others prior to racing action at a Pit Party from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Special pit passes for the party may be purchased day of the event.
Advance general admission tickets for Motorcycle Mania are $22 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. All reserved seats are $30. Tickets are available at the speedway, by calling the ticket hotline at (817) 215-8500 or through all participating Ticketmaster locations.
BEER SALES PERMITTED FOR MOTORCYCLE MANIA -- Fans attending the Motorcycle Mania event at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track will be able to purchase beer during the event. This will be the first event held on speedway property where beer will be sold in the stands. "This is exactly the type of event that we have lost in the past because the promoter couldn't sell beer," said speedway assistant general manager Kenton Nelson. "The fans typically don't bring coolers to events such as this because beer is normally available to them. Now that the speedway has the option to sell beer, we will be more competitive with other local venues to continue bringing in events such as this."
The speedway is waiting for the results of recent surveys on alcohol sales before making a final decision on the alcohol policy for future events.
