SPEEDWERKS.COM LOOKS FOR VICTORY

Daytona Beach, Fla...Looking to make up ground, Team SpeedWerks.com is hoping to score the Sports Twins Class victory at Round 2 of the 2008 SunTrust MOTO-ST Series, April 27 at Virginia International Raceway.

"This is definitely going to be an important round for us," says team owner Steve Long. "We had an electrical problem on our No.87 Suzuki SV650 at the season opener in Daytona which left us sitting in 12th place. It was really a bummer since we had a commanding lead and were running fifth overall. We did put our No. 86 Suzuki in fourth which softened the blow somewhat. Now we definitely need to step it up. It is much easier to make up points early in the season than at the end so that is our plan. Our No. 86 Suzuki is just seven points out of first and the No. 87 is 19 points out of the lead. A top finish this weekend will make a big difference.

Running in the Sports Twins class for machines under 75 horsepower, Team SpeedWerks.com took a third in class last season and nailed the ST Manufacturer's Championship for Suzuki.

"We missed one round last year," explains Long and that put us out of contention. This season we are running two motorcycles and plan on being at each and every event. This is really a good series and fits perfectly into our schedule."

Headquartered in Dover, Del, Speedwerks Sport Bike has been in business for over 10 years. Providing exception service and support to both pro and club racers, street riders and track day enthusiasts, this company has earned an outstanding reputation for their knowledge, attention to detail and bike prep.

"Our crew definitely knows what it takes to win, as do our riders. For VIR, we will boast the talents of Brian Kcraget, Jeff Walker, Trey Yonce and one more rider to be named. Brian pretty much smoked them last year at this track and with a little luck we should be able to do it again. All three riders are familiar with the course, especially Brian who hails from Danville. It is his hometown track and he knows it like the back of his hand. With his skill and that of our other riders we should definitely be good to go.

I have worked with Brian for over 10 years," continues Long. "In fact, we used to compete against each other. He is one of the best riders in the country and a fierce competitor. He definitely hates to lose. Both Jeff and Trey also brings a lot to the team. They all have tons of racing experience and know what this type of team competition is all about."

Dueling it out on the VIR 3.27 mile road course, the SunTrust MOTO-ST Series will feature not only the Sport Twins Class (ST), but also the Buell Motorcycle Company SuperSport class (SST) which includes motorcycles producing between 90-118 horsepower and the BMW Grand Sport Twins class (GST) covering motorcycles producing 75-90 horsepower. Racers will take the Green Flag on Sunday, April 27 at 9:15 AM and will battle it out for 96 laps or a total of 2 0x00bd hours. This is definitely an action-packed battle you won't want to miss.
