LAS VEGAS -- Las Vegas Motor Speedway will offer more than your typical car races this weekend when the LXD FreeRide Moto-X Championship Presented by TheEdgeSports.com conquers the half-mile dirt track.
The Friday night and Saturday afternoon event will display some of the best freestyle motocross pilots from all over the country including Las Vegas' own Carey Hart. Hart performed first backflip ever at the 2000 Gravity Games in Rhode Island last month.
Brian Deegan, the winner of the Gravity Games Freestyle motocross, along with other competitors, will perform death-defying tricks in mid air along with the trademark Step-Up discipline.
This event is an official qualifier for the 2001 ESPN X-Games.
Not only will the pilots perform during the two-day event at LVMS, but on Thursday at 7 p.m., they will be doing a ramp-to-ramp demo at Race Rock Supercharged Restaurant in the Fremont Street Experience. Hart will be performing an 80-foot ramp demonstration for spectators. Nationally known riders such as Deegan, Tommy "Tom Cat" Clowers and Mike Metzger will be present for an autograph session following the main event. The first 100 people who attend the Race Rock event will receive a free ticket to the LXD Free-Ride Moto-X Championship.
Spectator gates open as 6:30 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets purchased prior to the event are $20 for adults and $12 for children under 13. Tickets on the day of the event will be $22 for adults and $14 for children under 13. Children five and under are free. Tickets can be purchased by calling (702) 644-4444 or visiting www.tickets.com .
