McElroy qualifies fourth and holds on for the win at the Alamodome
SAN ANTONIO, TX. (January 31, 2004) - XM Satellite Radio Presents IFMA Freestyle Motocross, brought to you by San Antonio Toyota Town Dealers visited the Alamodome for one huge night of competition. Drake McElroy had to ride in his jeans and t-shirt due to the airlines losing his luggage, but came out and put together a run that scored a 91.9 on the huge freestyle course. Brain Foster, the first rider to hit the 91-foot dirt hit, finished in second with a final score of 91.3. Myles Richmond, the nights number three qualifier, scored a 91.0 enough to take home third place.
Jim McNeil, the only competitor to land the back flip, crashed in the doubles competition after qualifying in the number one spot. McNeil can out in the finals landed the flip, but couldn't finish his run after realizing his bike troubles. McNeil could not snag his fourth win of the season, but watched as McElroy captured his first win of 2004.
"I was really lucky after that crash, Jim McNeil said after his final run. It should have been a lot worse, Drake rode really well tonight and deserves the win."
