IFMA awards a $40,000 purse to the top 10 riders in IFMA points standings

AURORA, Ill. (December 9, 2003) - The IFMA Freestyle Motocross Series Presented by XM Satellite Radio finished its fourth season this past weekend in Kansas City, Mo. where an awards banquet followed at nearby Memorial Hall. For the second consecutive year the IFMA handed out awards for Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Rider, Entertainer of the Year, Promotion Award*, and the Progression Award* voted on by IFMA staff and the riders. The IFMA also crowned the 2003 IFMA Champion Kenny Bartram. Every rider that participated in at least one IFMA event was eligible to win an award, with the exception of the Rookie of the Year award.

For the first time the IFMA has given the fans a voice and a chance to vote for their favorite riders by voting on www.pacefmx.com for the 2003 IFMA Fans Choice Awards. Voting for these awards started in September and ended November 19, 2003. Fans on pacefmx.com were able to vote in five categories including Entertainer of the Year, Favorite Rider, Most Improved Rider, Progression Award, and Rookie of the Year.

2003 IFMA Award winners as voted on by the riders and the IFMA as follows:

Rookie of the year - Matt Buyten & Myles Richmond
Most Improved - Brian Foster
Entertainer of the Year - Ronnie Renner
IFMA Champion - Kenny Bartram

2003 IFMA Fans Choice Awards as voted on by the fans as follows:

Entertainer of the Year - Ronnie Renner
Favorite Rider - Kenny Bartram
Most Improved Rider - Myles Richmond
Progression Award - Kenny Bartram

Rookie of the Year - Matt Buyten

* Nominees for the Promotion Award - Given to the rider who have done the most to promote the sport of Freestyle Motocross and the IFMA by participating in live local morning shows, radio shows and newspapers interviews. Each nominee must have ridden at least 1 IFMA event in that season.

* Nominees for the Progression Award - Given to the rider who have progressed the sport the most since the start of the IFMA season. Meaning riders who have come up with the best or most technical new tricks or ideas to help raise the bar in Freestyle Motocross. Each nominee must have ridden at least 1 IFMA event in that season.
