Bartram continues his hot streak in Hampton

HAMPTON, Va. (March 23, 2002) - One week before the first round of the Vans Triple Crown, the IFMA first visited Hampton, Va. With most of the top talent in Michigan this weekend risking their lives at the X-Games qualifier, the IFMA was left with superstars Kenny Bartram, Jake Windham and rising star Beau Bamburg. Although short on big names, the crowd showed their support to the next generation of freestylers.

Friday night after deeming the X-Games qualifier unsafe, Dustin Miller left Michigan and boarded a plane to Hampton. Showing up during opening ceremonies, Miller gave the crowd a preview as he hit the 70-foot jumps for the first time before having to compete. Dustin's lack of practice and jet lag showed as he watched Kenny Bartram take another victory and close the IFMA points lead to only 7 points.

"I was really tired from traveling and not being able to hit the jumps until the competition really hurt me tonight. No one should complain about the IFMA, it was great coming back to this event," said Dustin Miller on Friday night.

Saturday night Kenny Bartram and Beau Bamburg once again put on a show for the Hampton crowd. Kenny put together a flawless run to become the number one qualifier while Beau Bamburg qualified sixth. Bamburg's final run score of a 92.5 was enough to fend off the field until Bartram. With the pressure on, Kenny came through with a 92.7 to complete the sweep, take home yet another trophy and the IFMA points lead.

"Beau pulled out all the stops tonight, when he landed the "sterilizer" I knew I couldn't make any mistakes," said Kenny Bartram Saturday night. <pre> Weekend Results Top Five Friday and Saturday nights FRIDAY Kenny Bartram 92.5 Jake Windham 91.7 Beau Bamburg 90.7 Robert Distler 89.5 Jesse Olson 89.0
