DAEMEN COMPLETES BMP-ELF-99 LINE UP FOR LE MANS
The BMP-ELF-99 Endurance World Championship team have signed experienced campaigner, Werner Daemen, to ride alongside Matthieu Lagrive and Damian Cudlin in this year's Le Mans and Bol d'Or endurance races.
The 38-year-old Belgian rider will get his first opportunity to try the BMP-ELF-99 Honda CBR1000 when he joins Lagrive, Cudlin and reserve rider, Marc Fissette, for a two-day test on the Bugatti Circuit at Le Mans, starting on Tuesday of this week.
"We are happy to have Werner onboard with the BMP-ELF-99 team," declared Team Principal, Michael Bartholemy. "I'm confident that, with his vast experience, Werner will be a real asset to the team this season. I am certainly looking forward to working with him this year."
"Matthieu and Damian had a good test last time out at Le Mans, where I think we surprised a few people with just how competitive we were for a new team. For the test this week we will have two bikes for the four riders, as well as additional technical staff from the MotoGP paddock."
"The Le Mans 24-hour race is now less than three weeks away, so it's critical we leave this test with all four riders happy with the set-up of the bike, as the next time we get the chance to work on it will be during practice ahead of the race," concluded Bartholemy.
The BMP-ELF-99 team will also have their custom-built race transporter and pit display system at the Le Mans test for the first time. Both were designed and built by team partner, Bischoff and Scheck, who also supply trailer and hospitality units to the MotoGP and Formula 1 paddocks, including the McLaren Mercedes "Brand Centre" that redefined mobile hospitality standards in 2009.
"Bischoff and Scheck have been involved in both two and four-wheeled motorsport as a supplier of bespoke trailers for a number of years," explained Bartholemy. "The company also has its own racetrack in Baden-Baden, which a lot of car teams use as their main test track."
"However, this is the first time that Bischoff and Scheck have been involved as a team partner and we're happy to have them onboard. Presentation is almost as important as results in today's business driven racing world and, with Bischoff and Scheck fully involved in our project, I believe we will have one of the most professional looking set-ups in the endurance paddock this season."
The BMP-ELF-99 team will complete approximately 800 laps in this year's 24 Hours Moto at Le Mans, which takes place on the weekend of 17/18 April 2010.
