FORT WORTH-DALLAS (August 18, 2000) - Chris Carr may best be described as "Mr. Consistency". It is that kind of approach that has elevated him to the elite status in flat track dirt track motorcycle racing. Coming into the PACE Motorsports Wrenchead.com National Dirt Track Series event on August 26 at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, Carr carries the label of being the top dirt-tracker in the nation, not so much from showing the flash of winning a lot of races, but rather the grit and determination of being competitive every week.
"I've just always been steady," Carr said. "I've never been the type of guy to string a bunch of wins together, but I'm proud of my consistency. I know that sometimes that means that I've been second in the AMA Grand National Championship more than anybody, but I have accomplished things in my career that nobody else has, and I am especially proud of that."
Carr, who won the National Championship division title in 1999, ranks third in points coming into the Rattlesnake Roundup at Texas Motor Speedway. He competed in the inaugural flat track race on the dirt track on May 6, finishing fourth in the National Championship division event that night.
"Not only do I have to go out and do my best on the race track," Carr said, "but I feel like I have to help usher in this new dirt track series (PACE). I think that is a great opportunity, and some of the younger guys are going to gain a lot down the road. I feel like this series is not only going to survive, but thrive."
Advance general admission tickets for the Rattlesnake Roundup are $22 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. All reserved seats are $30. Tickets are available at the speedway, by calling the ticket hotline at (817) 215-8500 or through all participating Ticketmaster locations.
