Metcalf Wins Three Main Events in Front of Home Crowd in Wichita
Stone Moves Closer to Second Arenacross Championship

AURORA, Ill. (March 22, 2004) - Heading into Round Eleven of the Regional Arenacross Series, Nick Metcalf (Wichita, Kan.) was still holding on to a glimmer of hope of catching current points leader Brian Stone (Kansas City, Mo.) for his first Arenacross Championship. Metcalf needed to race flawlessly and hope for a little help from the rest of the field keeping Stone towards the back of the pack. However, Stone was too focused and put forth the most consistent weekend out of any of the top four in the regional points standings. Jim Chester (Lenoir, N.C.) and Mike Katin (East Sparta, Ohio), both second and third in points, decided to take their chances at narrowing Stone's lead in Green Bay, Wisc.

On Friday night Metcalf seemed poised to run the table after taking an easy win in the 125cc main event and then following up with a win in the Dash for Cash. Stone finished second in the 125cc main event. However, in the 250cc main event, Stone was able to capitalize on Metcalf's crash in the whoops section and pull away for the win. Metcalf fell back in the pack from the mishap but was able to come back for a fifth place finish.

Saturday night ended up being a clean sweep for Metcalf as he took wins in the 125cc main event, 250cc main event, and the Dash for Cash. Metcalf was ecstatic about his showing in front of his home crowd. Stone followed up with strong second place finishes in the main events and further increased his lead in the regional points standings over Chester and Katin.

Next weekend the Regional Arenacross Series makes it's way to Tacoma, Wash. for the twelfth and final round. The track is expected to be huge and endurance will play a huge role in the rider's performance. Stone holds a comfortable lead and with another consistent weekend he should win his second Regional Arenacross championship. Tickets are available at the Tacoma Dome box office, Ticketmaster, or by phone at (206) 628-0888 or (253) 627-0888.
