Victory and championship lead for Jack Harvey
The first four positions in race one and four other podium positions in races two and three: the British Volkswagen customer team Carlin successfully started the title defence mission. Jack Harvey claimed a lights-to-flag win from of his team mates Jazeman Jaafar and Carlos Sainz Jr at the opening round of the season at Oulton Park. In the second race Pietro Fantin and Jaafar took podium positions two and three with Volkswagen power. In the third race Harvey was successful again for Carlin after finishing second ahead of his team mate Harry Tincknell. As a result, after three of 29 races Harvey leads the championship with 41 points from Jaafar (35 points).

Victorious season start for Aaron Mason and James Walker
Aaron Mason and James Walker recorded their first win of the new season in Volkswagen Racing Cup at Oulton Park. In the first race Mason converted his pole position to win in his Golf GTI ahead of Scirocco driver James Walker and Dominic Pettit (Jetta). In the second race Walker took revenge by narrowly beating Mason to the top step of the podium. Third place went to the Bora driver Joe Fulbrook.

‘ProMechanic’ competition nurtures young talents
Quick tyre changes and reliable error diagnosis – no problem for 20-year old Philip Riedel and 18-year old Axel Baumann. The future automobile-mechatronic technicians won Volkswagen Motorsport and Volkswagen Coaching’s ‘ProMechanic’ competition at Oschersleben and can now work in the Scirocco R-Cup service team in 2012. In the world’s most environmentally friendly one-make cup their responsibilities also include looking after Jan-Frank Kasten’s race car. The industrial mechanic won the ‘ProTalent’ competition, also organised by Volkswagen Coaching and Volkswagen Motorsport, and will compete in the Scirocco-R-Cup in 2012.
