Al Fardan heads to ultra-fast Thruxton

Gulf Finance House driver Hamad Al Fardan heads to Thruxton circuit in Hampshire this weekend knowing that third place in the National Class championship is well within his reach.

The young rookie has never competed at the ultra-fast circuit near Andover but is looking forward to a good result on the back of two podium finishes at Silverstone, the home of the British Grand Prix, two weeks ago. Although Mexico's Sergio Perez and China's Cheng Cong Fu continue to dominate the class with 13 wins between them, Al Fardan, currently fourth in the tables after eight podium finishes, is confident that he can bridge the 20 point gap between himself and championship rival Michael Meadows in third.

Speaking about the weekend ahead, Al Fardan said, "We left Silverstone with more good results and considering the problems we had with the car all weekend two podium finishes was better than expected. The team is working really hard and although I have never raced at Thruxton before I think we are looking strong.

"Thruxton is the fastest circuit on the F3 calendar so I'm really excited about racing there. I will be aiming for more podiums this weekend and of course my first win! I know Perez and Cheng are out of reach in championship but I am determined to finish the season just behind them in third."

Al Fardan will take to the track on Friday morning at 10.00 for first practice and again at 15.30. Qualifying for race one will take place at 11.25 followed by qualifying two at 14.45. Racing action will get underway at 11.50 on Sunday, with race two taking place at 15.30.
