TWO IN THE TOP SIX FOR T-SPORT
Brackley, UK -- 7 July 2009: Adriano Buzaid and Wayne Boyd finished the second of last weekend's British F3 races in the top six, signaling a return to form for the Brackley-based T-Sport squad. In the national class, Gabriel Dias took a confident victory in race two.
The team and drivers were a little disappointed after the first qualifying session on Saturday, only achieving eighth for Buzaid and 11th for Boyd, when they all expected to be further up the field. In the second session the pace was a lot better with Buzaid taking sixth and Boyd continuing his upward momentum in seventh.
Buzaid got away well in race one and set off after Daisuke Nakajima. He made his move just a few laps into the race but made contact with the Japanese driver and spun off but was able to rejoin at the back of the field. The Brazilian got his head down and battled his way back up through the field, clocking the second fastest race lap along the way. With 10 laps to go he finally passed Nakajima and this time took ninth place from him, which he kept until the chequered flag. Boyd had a blinding start but he was hit at Riches and speared into another car He too lost a massive amount of time and had to do the same fight back as Buzaid. He took fourth fastest race lap as he fought his way up to 11th before the flag. Dias had a less dramatic first race and took second place after a clean race.
T-Sport's two championship class drivers got good starts in race one, both gaining places. Buzaid came around at the end of lap one in fifth place, with Boyd close behind in sixth. After a race-long battle with each other the duo came home in fifth and sixth, marking T-Sport's best team finish of the season so far. Dias completed the picture with a great run to victory in the national class.
Reflecting on the weekend, T-Sport Team Principal Russell Eacott said: "I was pleased to see that our race pace was good at Snetterton and that we raised our game to get better results in the second qualifying session. It's a step in the right direction but I think there is a lot more to come. I'm reasonably happy with the results but we will be pushing for better at Donington.
The F3 teams will be back on track in two weeks' time at Donington Park.
