Fong leads two-car SVR assault on British Formula 3
The Sino Vision Racing team is to return to the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series in 2011 with a two-car team spearheaded by Chinese driver Adderly Fong.
Fong, who turns 21 next month, capped an encouraging maiden season in British Formula 3 with a fourth-place flourish in the pouring rain in 2010's final round at Brands Hatch before going on to show promise in the Macau Grand Prix.
The Vancouver-born racer, who lives in Oxford, hopes he can carry on where he left off: "I'm glad to be back and especially to be back with SVR, as we had some very promising results in Macau and in testing in December. I have high hopes for the coming season and I hope for some positive showings."
The identity of his team-mate will be revealed soon, says Sino Vision Racing team manager Chris Churchill: "We are hopeful we will be able to announce something within a matter of days, and then will look forward to getting back into testing with Adderly and turning the positive momentum into results. The Brands Hatch showing was the icing on the cake for us in what was a challenging rookie season in the UK; it showcased Adderly's skills in the wet."
Fong's track career started in Asian Formula Renault in 2006. He moved on to contest Formula V6 Asia before a two-year stint in the German domestic F3 series and A1GP outings with Team China.
British Formula 3 - the opening rounds of which take place at the Italian Grand Prix circuit of Monza in mid-April - enjoys the headlining support of Cooper Tires and is additionally supported by Sunoco Racing Fuels, Anglo American Oil Company and OAMPS.
