Podium Finish for Esteban in Silverstone
Northamptonshire, United Kingdom -- After having qualified 13th this morning, with a lap time of 1'54.209s, driver Esteban Gutierrez, at ART Grand Prix, managed to make an extraordinary start to the first race of the weekend and gained several positions before getting to the first turn and a total of seven before turn 3 on lap one.
During the 30 minute race, Gutierrez was in the fight for more positions while protecting his sixth place overall and first of the invitees class.
This event is divided into three groups, which are the International Class, the National Class, and the Invitation Class. That is why the young driver received the trophy for the first place for being the best of the three drivers who participated in his class, all of them driving for ART Grand Prix.
Esteban will start the second race of the weekend from third on the grid. This race will last 20 minutes, taking place on Sunday, previously to the last race of the weekend at the Silverstone Circuit of 5.141 km of length, which will last 40 minutes.
"After not having a good qualifying this morning, we made some dramatic changes to the car and were able to recover during the race, making significant progress", said Gutierrez.
"The truth is, we have had a complicated and busy weekend but in the end we see positive things. By making a good start we gained several positions. Then for the remainder of the race I was trying to overtake fifth place but it was very difficult due to the track layout. The good thing is we were consistent and with this step forward we are very motivated for the rest of the weekend", he explained.
"Tomorrow we will start the race from third, which puts us in an even better position for improvement. With faith in God, we will progress even more as we've been struggling with the tire change which affects the setup of the car", remarked the 18 year old driver.
