At the initial start, reverse grid polesitter Tarun Reddy lost his lead to Enaam Ahmed with Ameya Vaidyanthan in at second, but a heavy crash to Enzo Bortoleto meant the race was red flagged.

The Brazilian’s Double R Racing car flipped over at the Chapman Curve corner, but the driver was safe.

The race which only went to half a lap was stopped and re-started, as the grid was set as per the original line-up, giving a second chance to Reddy.

But, once again, the Indian lost out at the start, as Douglas Motorsport’s Randle stormed from fifth to first, while Vaidyanathan stayed second, with Matheus Leist slotting in at third.

Ahmed, from third, got another good start but with his front wing clipped going into Turn 1, meant the Brit had to stop for a change and thus dropped back.

Polesitter, Reddy, dropped to sixth as Alekstanteri Huovinen and Lando Norris moved to fourth and fifth, respectively.

By lap 4, the Norris was all over the back of the Finn and took fourth, before attacking Leist, up the road, for third.

And within two laps, the British driver dispatched the Brazilian, to take the final spot on the podium, setting a chase for his teammate Vaidyanathan, for second.

Norris closed the gap from over three second to eighth-tenths by final lap, but it was too late as Vaidyanathan sealed his second place, while Randle took his maiden BF3 win.

The Indian hung to less than a second gap to the Australian all through, but it wasn’t enough in the end.

Leist finished fourth with Huovinen fifth, as Fortec’s Reddy managing only sixth, keeping Ricky Collard at bay, at seventh.

Toby Sowery, finally, got a better race to end eighth, having overtaken Thomas Maxwell, while Jon Jonck completed the top 10.
