The Formula 1 team Arrows has announced that it will test British Formula 3 champion Antonio Pizzonia at Barcelona on Monday. The young Brazilian who only last week was presented with the Paul Warwick trophy, is one of the hottest future F1 prospects on the market. Pizzonia will take over for Arrows' Pedro de la Rosa on Monday afternoon in multi-team tire tests.
Although he is not yet contracted, the 20-year old is reportedly in negotiations with one of the Michelin-shod teams for a test driver spot. Teams running Michelin tires for the 2001 campaign are Jaguar, BMW-Williams, Prost and Benetton. Earlier this year, he ran tests for the Benetton F1 team.
Arrows will likely be looking at Pizzonia as a possible test driver, as it is believed drivers de la Rosa and Jos Verstappen are secure in their positions for the 2001 season.
