As soon as the chequered flag had fallen on the opening round of the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series on Easter weekend, attention was turned to Monza. Back-to- back rounds see the cars, teams and drivers heading from Cheshire to Italy for Round 2 this weekend.
Pietro Fantin had a good start to his season - opening his account with a podium in race 2 and scoring points in all 3 races for his new team Carlin. His 2nd position was so close to being a victory as he crossed the line just 0.85 seconds behind winner Pipo Derani.
His results of 8th, 2nd and 7th means he left the Cheshire circuit with a decent 22 points under his belt.
But with his sights set high for this season, the Brazilian driver hopes that this weekend he can get even more points to maintain the momentum in the championship.
To race at Monza in British F3 is a real treat for the young stars of the future and it’s a track that Pietro can’t wait to get to.
“I really like Monza, it’s a special and unique circuit unlike anywhere else. It is important to have a quick car for the race. Qualifying at Monza is what matters least because of the high number of overtaking places. It will be key to get the best set up for the races and save as many sets of tyres as I can.” said the 20 year old.
“Carlin won all three races in Monza last year so they know what they are doing around there”.
