FANTASTIC START FOR GONZALEZ
T-Sport's Rodolfo Gonzalez won both National class F3 races at Oulton Park this Easter Monday. The young Venezuelan also finished eighth in the overall standings for the second race of the day, breaking the lap record on his way to the class victory. Dennis Retera had a tough introduction to the British F3 International Series, finishing the second race in 12th place.
Rodolfo Gonzalez (National Class): "I've had a great weekend! To be honest I thought it would be harder than this but I got my act together quickly and, along with the engineers and mechanics, we were on the ball and did a good job. I had a bit of a fever in qualifying so I should have done better. The first race was pretty quiet for me but I pushed very hard in the second one; I knew I was close to the lap record so I went for it. Taking the record was a great way to finish the weekend."
Dennis Retera (Championship Class): "I didn't have the easiest weekend; it was a lot of hard work, but I did learn a lot, especially about starts and also running on cold tyres. I was pushing hard on the first lap of race one and braked late at the Shell Hairpin, spun off and my race was over. Race two was a lot better as I got some proper mileage under my belt."
Russell Eacott (T-Sport Team Principal): "We came into this weekend targeting class wins for Rodolfo and top ten finishes for Dennis. We achieved one but not the other. Rodolfo did the business and came away with two wins and a big haul of points so we are delighted with his performance. It is a very tall order for Dennis to come into the season with limited testing so we'll be working hard with him during the gap before the next race to get him up into the top ten."
