New driver at Kolles & Heinz Union

Following the departure of Carlo van Dam from Kolles & Heinz Union, the Formula 3 team has now signed up British driver Nick Tandy.

In contrast to most young racing drivers, Tandy began his career not on the karting arena but in ministox oval racing. Following in the footsteps of his elder brother Joe, Nick was already winning races at the age of eleven. In 2001, he switched to the Mini Se7ens series in which he also registered a string of victories.

The step up to formula racing took place in 2005. After a season spent dominating the BRDC Single Seater Championship, he moved on to the British Formula Ford series, in which he was one of the top drivers over a two-year period, claiming many victories. In 2008, he changed to the British Formula 3 where, despite driving only a Mygale chassis, he still managed to ascend the podium on three occasions and to finish the season ninth overall. His 2009 season has kicked off with two podiums and a win in the British Formula 3 championships, putting him third in the current drivers' standings.

Werner Heinz: "We are delighted to have signed up such an experienced driver for our team."
