SECOND PLACE FOR RYAN LEWIS AT MONDELLO PARK

Ryan Lewis finished in a fantastic second place at Mondello Park in Ireland today. After a difficult time in race one, Ryan was delighted to get a great result in the second race of the day.

Race one started well for Ryan when the young Brit moved up to fifth place at the first corner, going up the inside of Dirani's Lola. Unfortunately later in the lap he spun whilst chasing Mike Conway for fourth and found himself at the back of the pack with a lot of work to do. He fought his way back through the field but had to ultimately settle for 13th in class behind Bruno Senna.

He got another good start from the second row of the grid for race two and was able to make the most of Dirani and Parente colliding with each other at turn one in second and third places. He set off after leader Steven Kane and had Charlie Kimball hot on his heels in third. Apart from a brief spell under the Safety Car the race ran at a steady rhythm with the top drivers holding position; Kane leading Ryan all the way to the chequered flag.

"That just goes to show what you can do when you qualify at the sharp end of the grid", commented Ryan as he stepped down from the podium. "It was a real battle to stay in front of Charlie (Kimball) as we were struggling for pace, especially when my tyres went off. The first corner incident played into my hands; Alvaro (Parente) and Danilo (Dirani) tangled and I was able to sneak around the outside and take second place. It's good to be back up on the podium...it's been a while!"

The final two rounds of the British F3 International Series will take place at Silverstone on 8/9 October.
