Best Results All Round for Reindler In Ireland
Former Australian Formula 3 Champion Karl Reindler in his best result to date finished 8th overall in class and 12th outright when he took to the narrow 3.5km Mondello Park Circuit in Ireland for round 19-20 of the British Formula 3 Championship last weekend (17-18 September)
Reindler, qualified 18th in the first session Saturday before a change in his car set up had him on the pace for the second session in 13th position and only 1.4 seconds off pole, his best qualifying result yet.
Sunday race day, and limited passing opportunities proved to be the bone of Reinders first race. A touch with National class driver Josh Fisher on entry to `Ireland.ie' corner resulted in Reindler retiring from the race.
Race two and Reindler made a good start of the line before an opening lap incident sent him wide onto the grass. Able to safely manoeuvre the car back on to the narrow track Reindler completed the remaining seventeen laps to cross the line in 12th position.
Pleased with his results, Karl commented , "The track was difficult, really narrow and rough, limited passing opportunities made things frustrating, but I have learnt the circuit and know what to expect for next year". "Overall I am extremely pleased with the weekend's results".
Reindler who has been driving for the prestigious UK based team, Alan Docking Racing will finish the British Formula 3 season at Silverstone when the final round of the Championship concludes on the 8-9 October.
The Perth born driver then plans to return to home to Australia for a bit of R&R before preparing for the 2006 British race season.
