NATIONAL CLASS PODIUMS BUT A TOUGH WEEKEND FOR PEREZ

Brackley, UK -- 27 May 2008: T-Sport's Sergio Perez still leads the British F3 International Series Championship after a wet weekend at Rockingham, but the gap has closed up and the Mexican driver now has a fight on his hands. Salman Al Khalifa and Steven Guerrero both scored national class podium finishes in what turned out to be a tough weekend of racing for the team.

Both qualifying sessions on Sunday were wet and Sergio was uncharacteristically off the pace, qualifying on the edge of the top ten for the two races. Salman had a good first session, putting his car third on the national class grid for race one but went off in session two and had to be content with seventh. Steven, on his first visit to Rockingham, struggled on the greasy track and could only manage fifth in the first qualifying session but got the hang of it by session two and took a fantastic second place on the grid for the second of Monday's races.

Race one took place on Monday before the rain returned and Sergio Perez was back on top form, putting in a storming drive from 11th on the grid up to fifth by the end of the race. Sergio again leaving the other runners in little doubt that if they see him in their mirrors they will have a hard job keeping the Mexican behind them. Salman also had a great race one, taking second place in the national class after doing a very good job throughout the race. Steven unfortunately lost it under braking at the end of the race whilst fighting for the last podium position but would finish the day with a top performance in race two.

The rain was falling steadily at the start of the second of Monday's races. Sergio, as in the wet qualifying sessions, struggled to get the best out of the car's wet set-up and finished in 13th place. Salman was unable to finish after an off-track excursion filled his radiators with grass and overheated his engine. Steven recovered from his DNF in race one with a top class drive to third place and his second podium finish of the year.

Commenting on the team's performance at Rockingham, Team Principal Russell Eacott said, "Our national class drivers certainly have the pace for podium finishes but they both need to improve their consistency to rack up the points. Sergio managed to salvage some points in race one from what has been a difficult weekend for him. The British weather put a bit of a dampener on our weekend but we'll bounce back."

The team will be out on track at Thruxton tomorrow before heading to Snetterton next week (7/8 June) for the next two rounds of the 2008 Championship.
