CLARKE OUT FOR SILVERSTONE?

Sunday, 7th August: British F3 Championship driver Dan Clarke aggravated a knee injury on Thursday (4th August) while surfing in Newquay at the world famous Rip Curl Boardmasters event. The Raikkonen Robertson Racing driver had swapped his race overalls and F3 car for a wetsuit and board to spend some time surfing the waves of Fistral Beach.

Making the most of a five week break in the season, Clarke enjoyed three or four hours in the water, picking up tips and hanging out with some of the top names in British surfing. However, late in the day Clarke felt a shooting pain in his right knee and has been in some discomfort since.

Clarke commented: "I'm not sure how it happened, but as I went to stand up on the board I felt a shooting pain in my right knee. It went away almost as quickly as it had come, but it really hurt at the time and was aching again on Friday morning. I can feel it when I apply pressure to the pedal when driving, so I'm hoping it's nothing serious."

Ironically Clarke has invited a number of the surfers to join him at Silverstone for next weekend's race: "I've invited a number of the guys from Newquay to join us next weekend, so I'd be gutted if I had to miss the race through injury. We'll just have to see how it goes over the next few days."

Clarke is seeing a specialist on Tuesday morning to determine the seriousness of the injury.
