Test success for Alan van der Merwe and the Carlin Motorsport team.

Alan van der Merwe and the Carlin Motorsport team spent four days (19-22 February) testing at the new Circuit des Ales in Southern France last week.

The team and Alan planned the intensive fair weather test to shake down the cars after a long winter break away from the track. The four day test was a success and gave Alan and his new team mates, Ronnie Bremmer, Richard Antinucci and Jamie Green opportunity to spend valuable time in the cockpit whilst working on overall car set up.

Championship contender and 2002 race winner, Alan van der Merwe was on form for the test and topped the times on all but one of the test sessions leading out the others by over two tenths of a second overall.

"It was great to be back behind the wheel, get some clear laps and to make significant progress with last years car and the set up. The car felt great during the test. I'm pleased to be heading the lap times and look forward to further testing ahead of the first races at Donington in April." Alan commented.

Alan and the Carlin Motorsport team will be testing alongside the other British Formula 3 championship entries at Snetterton for the first official FOTA (Formula Three Association) test of 2003 on the 4th March.
