KENTS MIKE CONWAY VICTORIOUS AT BRANDS HATCH
Brands Hatch, UK - 27 August 2006: Top-class Kent racer Mike Conway displayed his exceptional talent with a victory and a third in two crowd-pleasing home races in the British Formula 3 at Brands Hatch today.
In race one, the Sevenoaks's pole-sitter stepped to the top of the podium for the third successive round and for the eighth time this season.
"Being a home race for me it was great to get the results. All my supporters were here, from Toshiba, Claridon, Armourfend, Sparshatts of Kent and all my family, so to get a win and a podium and extend our lead here at Brands Hatch is really awesome," said Conway.
A third place in the second race grants the Raikkonen Robertson Racing driver a 75-point buffer in the title hunt. It is the 13th podium of the year for Conway, which he sealed with a powerfully assured move from fourth around the crest of the second corner: "On the first lap going up the hill into Druids, I went to the outside of Buurman and braked as late as I possibly could. There was plenty of grip on the outside so I pulled it off nicely with no wheel locking and slotted back in front of him. I'm really happy with the weekend."
Conway next races at the Italian circuit of Mugello, where the British F3 troop competes for the first time on 16/17 September, in the third-final outing of the 2006 series.
