Malaysia's best hope for Formula 1, Alex Yoong, signed a major two year contract with the Sara Lee group (the owner of many major brands worldwide including Kiwi, Ridsect and Brylcreem) to be Malaysia's and Singapore's Brylcreem Boy today.

This is a major coup for Alex as he now joins David Beckham and Michael Jordan in Sara Lee's stable of sports stars. Alex is obviously thrilled by this as not only is Brylcreem a world market haircare product leader but to be the Malaysian selected for the region is an honour to him and Malaysia. This is the beginning of a hopefull long liason which will benefit both Alex and Brylcreem mutually.

Brylcreem will promote Alex's Brylcreem Boy imagery extensively through TV and Cinema commercials, Print Ads and billboards/posters/point of sale materials while Alex will be the spokesperson for the Brylcreem range of haircare products for Malaysia and Singapore.

"The Brylcreem's contract with me is very timely for my racing career at this stage and it will go a long way to help me raise my profile to attract other sponsors to meet my racing budgets for the crucial years to come." enthused Alex.

The contract signing was launched in a glamourous press conference at the Istana Hotel in Kuala Lumpur today.

Together with the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports recent support or Alex, he is now confirmed to take part in the remaining 6 of the last 8 Autosport British F3 Championship rounds with ADR, the Macau F3 GP and the remaining 5 rounds of the Italian F3000 Championship. He is scheduled to return to UK this weekend for a shake down test with ADR in preparation for the British F1 GP support Formula 3 race scheduled for July 3rd, 1999.
