Leinders leaves amid Marc VDS restructuring

Team principal Bas Leinders has left Spa 24 Hour-winning team Marc VDS after a management restructure.

The team, which won the Spa race last weekend with its #46 BMW Z4, said on Thursday that Leinders was leaving by mutual consent "to pursue other projects".

Marc VDS, which also competes in MotoGP and Moto2, said the main goal of the restructuring was to have a closer working relationship between the car and motorcycle elements of the team.

"We achieved one of our long-term goals with our first win at the 24 Hours of Spa and now we must look to the future," said team president Marc van der Straten.

"Currently we have two teams competing in different disciplines, both with their own management and logistical support.

"The aim of the restructuring is to bring these two teams together, allowing us to streamline the management and logistical infrastructure whilst still benefitting from the experience we have within the team."
