A promising start to the BlancPain Endurance Series opener at Monza turned sour with a string of accidents for Danish racing team Insight Racing.
The incident-filled weekend began in the opening bronze test Friday when Dennis Andersen was hit on his outlap by a competitor. Andersen, turning into the pit after an installation lap, was hit from behind. The accident caused damage to the car, but the team worked hard to get the Ferrari 458 GT3 sorted for Saturday’s practice and qualifying.
Martin Jensen started in the car Saturday and turned some quick laps placing the Danish car just outside the top 10 and among the frontrunners in the Pro-Am class (professional and amateur drivers sharing a car).
Unfortunately, Dennis Andersen makes a small, but costly mistake in the exit of the Lesmo 2 curve tagging the surrounding wall. The damage to the white, blue and red Ferrari was, unfortunately, too much for the team to fix before the race on Sunday.
Next race in BlancPain Endurance Series is at British Silverstone on May 25th.

"That was one of the darkest weekends I have ever had in racing. But that’s how it is. Dennis was very unlucky to get hit on Friday morning by a competitor whose attention was somewhere else. The car got damaged, but the guys had it fixed by Saturday. I started in the car and it was really quick, Dennis got in and put in some quick laps as well to get some kilometers under his belt.”
“In second practice, an unbelievable incident meant that the car got so damaged at the front, that we were unable to fix it before qualifying and the race, but luckily Dennis was uninjured.”
“On the upside, we got proof from our pace that the car is in good shape and we are exactly where we want to be. Next up is Silverstone, and we are really looking forward to it. It can only be better from here.”

"That was so disappointing. First, I got hit on my installation lap in the test on Friday. The guys got it sorted over night so the car was perfect Saturday morning. During second practice I make a mistake in Lesmo II and don’t catch the rear end – resulting in a hit with the wall and chassis damage. Hugely disappointing, because the laps we did get showed some promise."
