65th edition of Spa 24 hours will be biggest and best ever

Come on feel the noise: Blancpain Endurance Series teams will contest the Total 24 Hours of Spa on the final weekend of July

Spa-Francorchamps. Always a great place for a race, but the 2013 Total 24 Hours of Spa is set to be the biggest and best ever, on and off the race track.

From 24-28th July the 65th anniversary of this most evocative of endurance GT tests will see an expected 70 cars powering down to Eau Rouge in a blur of colour, noise and unparalleled variety. This will be mirrored by a kaleidoscopic festival of fun, music and celebration in the atmospheric Ardennes Forest. Totally unique, there is really no other ambiance compared to the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

Capturing the very best in raw sporting emotion, the 2013 Total 24 Hours of Spa will reinforce and further its reputation as the world’s greatest GT contest. A character set apart from any other endurance race, Spa will see a feast of extraordinary cars and drivers battle it out for supremacy in both the 24-hours itself and also towards this season’s Blancpain Endurance Series. The one and only!

Come on, feel the noise! Apart from the sensational grid of famous brands fighting it out in three highly competitive classes in the classic endure there will be a feast of high-energy action away from the circuit.

Highlighting the Total 24 Hours of Spa reputation as a must see European event, the 2013 edition will feature an unforgettable weekend for the thousands of ’24 Hour Party People’ that will descend upon Spa for a great summer weekend. Soon to be announced top class DJ sets will headline the main stage which has become a focal point of party goers in recent years.

Complementing the main event – the 2013 Total 24 Hours of Spa - will be the Cooper Tires British Formula Three International Series, Formula Renault NEC, the Belgian Racing Car Championship (incorporating the Aston Martin GT4 Challenge and the HDI – Gerling Dutch GT Championship). If that were not enough then the spectacular Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series will bring a large grid of their mighty Supercars.

From the famous parade to the historic Spa town centre on the Wednesday before the race to the unmissable Super Pole session on Friday, there will be the full range of human emotion and endeavour on show during the build-up to the Total 24 hours of Spa.

How many GT3 Supercars will be on the grid at Spa?

SRO Motorsports Group is proud to announce that the entry currently stands at 70 cars with potential for further growth. With over 240 drivers in action at Spa, many of them household names and former champions, the strength in-depth and quality of the ‘race aces’ and some of the best professional teams anywhere in the world means that this year’s edition of the Total 24 Hours of Spa is set to be truly exceptional. With reinforced manufacturer support for a number of cars the competition is likely to be stronger than ever.

For his part, Frédéric Maeyens welcomes the success of the Blancpain Endurance Series, which is includes the most famous GT race of the season at the Total 24 Hours of Spa.

“The first two races of the series showed how much this formula appeals to people”, says the General Manager of the RACB. “Since 2001 and the advent of GT cars in the 24 Hours, this race has not stopped growing in terms of quantity and quality in the field. Year after year, it has become a huge success. As we have done for more than ten years, we reiterate our trust to SRO and to all the partners supporting the Total 24 Hours of Spa.”

Maeyens also highlighted the close co-operation between the promoter of the Blancpain Endurance Series and the RACB, saying: “The appointment set at the end of July on the legendary Spa circuit will also be the opportunity to see several Belgian drivers compete. For them, the twice round-the-clock event is indispensable. Once again, all our teams will go into action to endure another outstanding event.”
