TORONTO, ON. -- Markham, Ontario resident Daniel Di Leo (Di Leo Auto Sport / Select Auto Collision / Autosports Media) heads to the 1.781 mile temporary road course for the Molson Indy Vancouver this weekend to compete in round #8 of the Barber Dodge Pro Series (BDPS). Di Leo, who is coming off a tough race weekend in Toronto will look to rebound in the second event of the Dodge Trans Canada Series. The 21-year-old gained some valuable confidence last weekend as a break in the schedule allowed Di Leo to return to his roots and walk away with a victory from a tough field in the F125cc class at the Sunoco Ron Fellows Karting Championship (SRFKC) series race held in Hamilton, ON.
Di Leo a former multi-time karting champion and winner of the BDPS event at Laguna Seca earlier in the year will be looking to garner his second BDPS victory of the 2003 season. "I am really looking forward to this event" explained Di Leo. "I like this track and had a good finish here last season." Di Leo is referring to his podium result that saw him all but secure 4th place in the series championship last season. "This track has been good to me in the past and I would like to perform well again in my home country." Di Leo will be looking to improve on last years result and advance him to 2nd in the series point standings.
Though Di Leo has been very busy with promotional activities and the daunting task of trying to secure sponsorship funds for next season, he still remains focused to the task at hand. "I want to move up to the next level and I know I must perform well to impress Atlantic teams and get the chance to do so. I need to bounce back after Toronto and prove to the motorsports community tat I am ready." With the determination and consistency that has been displayed by Di Leo this season, he has remained in the championship hunt and currently sits 3rd in the overall point standings, two points out of second position.
Daniel will hit the track Friday July 25 at 9:20am for his first practice session of the weekend and he will look to put his Select Auto Dodge race car on the provision pole in first round qualifying at 2:15pm Fans can go online to www.barberdodge.com to get an up to date schedule and view live timing, results and video highlights for each and every on track session.
