Beaulieu on provisional pole, sidelined in race.

St. Petersburg, FL -- February 22, 2003: After being quickest in two of the three season-opening practice and qualifying sessions, Canadian racer Josh Beaulieu was sidelined early in Saturday's Barber Dodge Pro Series race in St. Petersburg. Beaulieu, 2nd after final qualifying, was out of the race following wall contact on the third lap.

"I made a mistake and it cost me the race," commented the resident of Langley, BC. "I am learning to match my qualifying speed with race consistency, and today was a big step forward in that process. After our debrief session, I have a clear idea of the factors that were involved in this result. We haven't done a lot of testing, but this is only a small part of it. I am aware that patience isn't my biggest asset right now as a racing driver, but I have full confidence that it is coming."

It was the first time Beaulieu had worked with driving coach Michael Zimicki. "I rate Mike very highly," Beaulieu continued. "I found out firsthand one of the reasons that Jon Fogarty was so successful in Toyota Atlantic last year. We are planning to continue working together this season and are both looking forward to Mexico."

Over the next several weeks, Beaulieu will be continue to pursue partnerships with investors and corporations, and is confident of continuing his upward climb towards an eventual drive in the Champ Car World Series. The next Barber Dodge Pro Series race will be in Monterrey, Mexico in front of over 200,000 fans. Beaulieu is simultaneously working on a program to race in the CART Toyota Atlantic Championship this season.

Josh Beaulieu, in his third year of professional auto racing, has established himself among the next generation of Canada's racing stars. The native of British Columbia has 20 open-wheel race wins to his credit. You can find out more about Josh's career by visiting his website www.joshbeaulieu.com.
