Rain, Rain Go Away

The intent of holding a test session is to accrue knowledge to employ in the coming race. Unfortunately the drivers in the Barber Dodge Pro Series had little opportunity to gain any valuable insight in Thursday's two test sessions at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis. as they prepare for round 10 of the series on Sunday. A cold, steady rain swept through the Great Lakes region overnight and into the morning rendering the much of the day useless in light of the fact that the weatherman predicts a sunny, warm weekend.

The rain ended by the time of the second session but when the track dried faster expected in some parts of its 4-mile length while others stayed wet forcing drivers onto treaded Michelin rain tires. Again the mixed conditions yielded little benefit as the field of 23 drivers venture out for the first official session tomorrow morning.

At the end of the day however everyone came back in one piece, which is sometimes all that can be asked under trying conditions such as these.

Round 10 in support of the CART FedEx Motorola 220 officially gets underway Friday, August 17 with practice at 8:45 a.m. and qualifying at 4:15 p.m. Final qualifying takes place Saturday August 18 at 11:30 a.m. with the race kicking off at 3:45 p.m. (all times Central Daylight Savings time). A reminder that all rounds can followed live at barberdodge.com.
