LAKEVILLE, CT -- May 27, 2002: Canadian racer Josh Beaulieu survived several incidents to notch an 8th place result in Lime Rock Park on Monday. After two of eleven rounds, the Langley native is 5th in season points. It is his rookie year in the ultra-competitive CART Barber Dodge pro series.

Following several problems in practice and qualifying, Beaulieu improved from his 10th place qualifying position and had moved up to 6th after the first three corners. On lap 5, Beaulieu spun going into the famous Uphill corner and rejoined well down the field. Despite the mistake, he came back through the field in the 40-lap event.

"At the start, things were going well and I was pushing hard. A bit too hard considering I was having a heck of a time coping with the car switch right before the race. Definitely a mistake to try to late-brake when I wasn't comfortable in the car.

"Racers always talk about learning experiences when stuff doesn't go well, but this weekend was honestly a good learning experience. Racing is my passion so I sometimes do tend to get emotional behind the wheel, but I'm glad that I was able to show composure and get back in the fight."

The next CART Barber Dodge race is June 9 in Laguna Seca, California. While Beaulieu's 2002 plans include the three Canadian Molson Indy rounds, he is spending the next week meeting with potential sponsors to put together a full-season budget.

The first two rounds of the 2002 CART Barber Dodge season will air on SpeedChannel on June 23 and 28 respectively. For series results and info, click on www.barberdodge.com.
