SEBRING, FLORIDA - February 27, 2002: British Columbian driver Josh Beaulieu has shown that he has what it takes to succeed in the next step in his racing career. The Langley native showed great pace on Wednesday in his first run with Barber Dodge Pro, testing at Sebring circuit in Florida. By the end of the day, Beaulieu had posted an impressive 1:03.92, a pace within 0.8 seconds of the quickest time posted in winter testing.
Barber Dodge's series director Jeremy Dale commented on Beaulieu's first outing. "Josh is exactly the type of driver we are looking for, in our ladder system up to CART. He is career-focused and he understands the needs of his sponsors well. These characteristics in a driver are what Barber Dodge is all about. With the CART venues and exposure that come with racing in Barber Dodge, Josh is really in position to make an impact in North American racing."
Chief engineer of the series, Louis D'Agostino, was also impressed. "He's got an extremely bright future ahead of him because he has all of the necessary tools to get the job done - on the track and off the track."hspace
Beaulieu looks likely to challenge for the 2002 Barber Dodge title, but is not yet confirmed in the series as he is still pursuing a drive in British Formula 3. He will likely know in which series he will race by next week, only days before the first Barber Dodge race with the 12 Hours of Sebring on March 16. Barber Dodge will also be racing at the Molson Indy Vancouver weekend, July 26-28 - which would be Beaulieu's first 'home race'. Each of the 10 rounds will also air on SpeedChannel, reaching over 50 million homes in North America, and the FOX network plans to distribute the broadcasts internationally.
Josh Beaulieu, in only his third year of auto racing, has established himself as part of the next generation of Canada's racing stars. You can find out more about Josh's career by visiting his website www.joshbeaulieu.com.
