LAS VEGAS - NAPA Auto Parts has acquired the title sponsorship rights to the first NASCAR Winston West event at the Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The race, set for Wednesday, Feb. 28 will be called the NAPA Auto Parts 300. It is slated for 300 laps (123 miles) around the 3/8-mile oval. The event is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. (Pacific Time). A 20-lap Legends-car race and a 30-lap Grand American Modified sprint will precede the main event.

"We've just built a new 5,500-seat grandstand that certainly makes this one of the nicest short tracks in the country, and we're thrilled that NAPA has come on board to share in this first-ever event," said Chris Powell, executive vice president and general manager at LVMS. "We're going to announce in the next few days that a number of NASCAR Winston Cup stars will compete in the NAPA 300, and we already have Dale Jarrett and Kurt Busch coming out to sign autographs."

NAPA will have a huge presence at this event with defending series champion and Las Vegas driver Brendan Gaughan competing in the NAPA Chevrolet.

"We have made a strong commitment to motorsports and to the NASCAR Winston West Series over the past few years," said Wayne Wells, vice president of NAPA's Western Division. "To be involved with this event to kick off the biggest racing weekend in Las Vegas history makes this even more exciting for us."
