Watkins Glen, NY (January 28, 2004) - Watkins Glen International President Craig Rust announced today the creation of a new Special Events department, as well as the addition of two new staff members within the department. Wendy Sutterby joins The Glen as Special Events/Credentials Manager, along with Tim Benjamin, who was named the Special Events/Guest Services Coordinator.

The Special Events department will oversee all non-racing related events at The Glen, including the Finger Lakes Wine Festival supported by the Corning Museum of Glass and Opening Day. "We are very excited about the addition of this new department at our historic road course," said Rust. "Even though we are a race track, it is important to explore alternative uses to our facility and the Wine Festival and Opening Day are perfect examples of how to successfully do that. We're really pleased to have two outstanding individuals that will continue to grow these events."

Sutterby's primary focus will be the Wine Festival, which is in its tenth year, as well as registration during race weekends. Prior to joining The Glen, she operated her own design company, Blue Fish Designs. Sutterby, a native of Watkins Glen, graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Studio Art from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY.

Benjamin comes to The Glen from The Ginny Lee Cafe at Wagner Vineyards in Lodi, NY, where he was the Event Coordinator/Front of House Manager. He has experience in event coordination as President of Lake Country Players of Watkins Glen, where he directed and produced four main stage productions, as well as marketed dinner theater packages to area restaurants as fund raisers. In his new role, Benjamin, a Montour Falls, NY native, will oversee the Guest Services area during event weekends, as well as assist Sutterby with the Wine Festival and other non-racing events.

Eight events are featured on the 2004 schedule at Watkins Glen International, highlighted by the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, returning on its annual August weekend.
