Watkins Glen, NY (July 13, 2001) - Watkins Glen International President, Bryan R. Sperber, recently announced that Glenora Wine Cellars has been named as a preferred vineyard of the historic road course. As a preferred vineyard, Glenora will provide champagne for Victory Circle celebrations during the 2001 season. The relationship also provides Watkins Glen with the opportunity to serve wine from Glenora's partner facilities, Knapp Winery and Logan Ridge Estate Winery.

"Glenora Wine Cellars is proud to be involved with Watkins Glen International," said Gene Pierce, president of Glenora Wine Cellars. " We realize the significance of the racing history at Watkins Glen and the impact the current race operations has on the local economy and tourism industry."

Glenora Wine Cellars / The Inn at Glenora is located on the west side of Seneca Lake, eight miles north of Watkins Glen on Route 14 and is open year round. The Inn at Glenora has 30 rooms and its restaurant, Veraisons, is open year round, serving a regionally-inspired menu.

Logan Ridge Estates Winery & Restaurant is located 9 miles north of Watkins Glen on the east side of Seneca Lake off Route 414 at 3800 Ball Diamond Road. Knapp Vineyards Winery & Restaurant is located at 2770 County Rd. 128 (Ernsberger Road) in Romulus on Cayuga Lake.

The champagne will be flying during the 2001 Global Crossing @ The Glen Winston Cup weekend August 9-12, featuring dramatic racing by the premier drivers in stock car racing, including three-time winner at The Glen Jeff Gordon and the reigning Global Crossing @ The Glen winner, Steve Park. Complementing the Winston Cup race is exciting sports car racing on Friday night with the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series in the Bully Hill Vineyards 250 and Saturday, the rising stars in the NASCAR Busch North Series take the green flag in the "Little Trees" 150 presented by Pepsi.
