NASCAR Winston Cup racing takes center stage August 8-11 and will again be supported by the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series in the Bully Hill Vineyards 250 on Friday night and the NASCAR Busch North Series race presented by Pepsi on Saturday. For the second year, Sunday's main event will be broadcast live on NBC. "We're extremely excited about all aspects of the 2002 season, including the low ticket prices again this year," said Sperber. "The 2001 NASCAR Winston Cup Series race was action-packed, with Jeff Gordon securing a place in history with his seventh road course victory. In addition, we're looking forward to welcoming our featured marques on our vintage events that celebrate the history of racing at The Glen." The 2002 spectator racing season kicks off with three race weekends in June, starting with Chemung Canal Trust Historic Races June 7-9. The event will carry BMW as the featured marque of the weekend. The Porsche Club of America comes to town again June14-16, followed by the Sports Car Grand Prix June 21-23. Several changes will be noticed during the Sport Car Grand Prix weekend, including the running of the historic Six Hours of The Glen on Sunday, with two Grand-Am Cup races running Saturday, one in the afternoon and the other near twilight. Ferrari Challenge will also make its return to The Glen during this weekend, moved up from the 2001 date. July is highlighted by the successful Finger Lakes Wine Festival supported by the Corning Museum of Glass, making its sixth annual visit to Watkins Glen International July 20-21. Visitors to the Festival will also now enjoy "Launch of the Lakes", Friday night's new opening celebration. Opening Day will once again mark the official opening of Watkins Glen International and the advance ticket sale deadline on May 5 and the Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix will once again be the final 2002 spectator event at The Glen September 6-8.
