Thomasville, NC - BLV Motorsports Inc. has announced Stewart/waterpumps.com as the primary sponsor for driver Brian Vickers in the 2001 USAR Hooters ProCup Series.
Stewart Components, a recognized leader for over 20 years in water pump technology for the performance and racing industry, was recently acquired by Engineered Machined Products (E.M.P.) Inc. of Escanaba, MI. E.M.P. Inc. is North America's leading supplier of water and lubrication pumps to the diesel industry.
The new ownership group's acquisition is designed to expand its water pump line while entering a new niche market that is focused on the high performance industry. In making the announcement, Brian Larche, President of Stewart Components, commented, "With our recent acquisition of Stewart Components, the opportunity to serve as the primary sponsor of Brian Vickers and the team just seemed to be a natural fit for us. Working with Brian and BLV also gives us a great opportunity to more broadly promote our Stewart line of high performance water pumps. The announcement marks the first full-time major corporate partnership for the 17-year-old driver, who captured the 2000 USAR "Rookie of the Year"title. "Everyone associated with BLV Motorsports is excited about partnering with Stewart/waterpumps.com. The Stewart name is a leader in performance water pumps and our goal is to make sure they're in the same position on the track. In making the announcement, BLV Motorsports Inc. confirmed that the team will compete in all USAR North Series events, a majority of the South Series races, and all 5 Championship Series events. The team may also compete in additional series on a limited basis, including possible debuts in the NASCAR Busch, Truck, and/or ARCA Series later this year.
Representatives from the team and Stewart/waterpumps.com will officially unveil the car at a press conference to take place on January 12th at 3:00pm at Pennzoil Motorsports 2001 at the Fort Washington Expo Center near Philadelphia, PA. An announcement will also be made at the USAR Hooters ProCup Series award banquet in Atlanta on January 13th.
