FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Nov. 1, 2000) - Fans continue to purchase 2001 Season Ticket packages for the biggest season yet at Texas Motor Speedway, leaving only a limited number of tickets on the front straight.
The few remaining tickets will go on sale on an individual . race-by-race basis to the public on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 9:00 a.m . Season tickets, ranging from $170 to $430, include seven races -- one . NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch Series event, two NASCAR Craftsman Truck . Series events, two Indy Racing Northern Light Series races, and, new to. the schedule, a CART FedEx Championship Series race. Season tickets . remain on sale and are the only way to guarantee the best seats for all. events .
"We know that many of our fans are waiting for the individual tickets to go on sale in hopes of getting a seat for the NASCAR Winston Cup race," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage said. "Unfortunately for them, so many people have chosen to purchase season tickets that we don't have many left on the front straight. We hope they won't be too disappointed, but they can still purchase season tickets and ensure themselves of the best seats for the NASCAR Winston Cup race weekend.
"The truth is, we may sell out the entire front stretch by next Saturday, the first day individual tickets go on sale. Fans certainly have a number of ways to purchase those seats, but it's a gamble that you'll be able to get exactly what you want.
"Some fans have come to rely on the fact that we will bring in temporary seats to boost our capacity, but that's not happening in 2001. We currently have no plans to add any temporary seats for 2001, so there are going to be approximately 10 percent fewer tickets available. As a result, the scramble to get tickets on November 11 will be hotter than ever."
Traditionally, many fans line up early at the speedway to purchase their tickets in person. Others will spend part of their day on the phone trying to get through on the speedway ticket hotline at (817) 215-8500.
"We have already contacted Southwestern Bell to warn them about the tremendously high volume of calls on that day," Gossage said. "In years past, the call volume has been so high that it has locked up the phone system in parts of North Texas. We have urged Southwestern Bell to do their part to ensure service is not interrupted by the tens of thousands of telephone calls from around the country."
Individual race event tickets will be available at all area Ticketmaster locations or by visiting the speedway web site at www.texasmotorspeedway.com which has a link to Ticketmaster.
