Joey Mancari named Featherlite Southwest Series Director

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (December 14, 2002) -- NASCAR named Joey Mancari, of Las Vegas, as the new Featherlite Southwest Series Director. The announcement was made during the series' annual awards ceremony in Reno, Nev. Mancari joins NASCAR from Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where he served as Operations Manager and other capacities. Mancari brings nearly 20 years of experience in stock car racing, since he began his career in 1984 as Director of Fire and Safety at the former Las Vegas Speedway Park.

"One thing is very clear about Joey, when he was at Las Vegas our teams and officials enjoyed working with him in many areas," said Chris Boals, NASCAR' s director of regional touring and the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge. "We're proud to have him join our team at NASCAR and we are confident he'll continue the success of the Featherlite Southwest Series for many years to come."

Mancari, who takes over from interim Series Director Danny Grill, will oversee all aspects of the popular Late Model Touring series and its' 14 race schedule in 2003. He will supervise all series officials and organize all racing events.
