Sunoco Named Official Fuel Of Trans-Am
Houston, TX (October 7, 2001) Sunoco Rce Fuels has been named the official fuel of the Trans-Am Series. The multi-year agreement with Sunoco was announced at the Trans-Am Awards Banquet for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup. As the specified race fuel, Sunoco will be actively participating in the series as both a marketing partner and vendor.
Sunoco expressed enthusiasm for the program. "The Performance Products Division of Sunoco is made up of people who love their jobs," said Art Brown, Technical/Operations Manager. "It is a real thrill for us to be involved with Trans-Am racing." Sunoco has a rich history with the Trans-Am Series that dates to 1968 and support of the legendary Mark Donohue.
Dennis Huth, president of Trans-Am, feels that the partnership is a logical fit for both. "This is an example of of how Trans-Am can be effective for a major retail brand," he explained. "This is a perfect time for Sunoco and the series to reaffirm our mutual history and create a new legacy."
Longtime Trans-Am admirer, Sunoco Performance Products National Sales Manager Bill Corwin told the assembled audience that "from the time I heard the first melody from a 302 small block in the 60s, I have been in love with Trans-Am. We are all proud to make the fuel that will power your race cars in 2002 and beyond."
The 2001 Houston finale Trans-Am race will be aired on Speedvision on Saturday October 13 at 2pm EST.
