RadioShack and Samsung new sponsor of Nascar Winston Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (January 8, 2002) - Texas Motor Speedway today announced Fort Worth-based RadioShack Corporation (NYSE: RSH) and Dallas-based Samsung Telecommunications America have signed as new promotional partners of the speedway. The three-year promotional partnership kicks off with the April 7, 2002 NASCAR Winston Cup race, which will be named the Samsung/RadioShack 500.

"This event is one of the highlights of the season. It draws more than 200,000 fans, has the second-highest television ratings of the year, and pays out one of the biggest winner's paychecks of the year - second only to the Daytona 500," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "Partnering with RadioShack and Samsung will help to make this event even better. We are pleased to have these locally-based companies sponsor one of America's biggest sporting events as they make their entrance into motorsports with Texas Motor Speedway."

The Samsung/RadioShack 500 gives both companies the opportunity to extend current sports marketing initiatives to a broader demographic. The partnership also complements RadioShack's and Samsung's ongoing efforts to enhance strategic business relationships while providing tangible benefits and services to consumers.

"We're excited about this partnership and our involvement with a premiere NASCAR race," said Jim McDonald, senior vice president of Marketing and Advertising for RadioShack Corporation. "This relationship allows us to further extend the RadioShack brand through our media expenditures and targets NASCAR fans. The multi-faceted program with Texas Motor Speedway, combined with our media buying strategy, gives us the latitude to expand our customer base and support the sale of wireless phones."

"Samsung is proud to align its innovative brand and products with consumer-centric companies like Texas Motor Speedway and RadioShack," said Peter Skarzynski, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Samsung's wireless terminals division. "Much like the NASCAR races themselves, Samsung products give technology-savvy consumers a high-performance experience whether they're on-the-go or at the speedway."

To bring additional consumer interest to the race, as well as increase visibility for Samsung and RadioShack products, the companies will participate in various promotional activities that include providing wireless product retail opportunities for spectators at the race.

Individual and Season Tickets for the 2002 season at Texas Motor Speedway, including the Samsung/RadioShack 500, are still available. For more information, contact the speedway ticket office at (817) 215-8500 or go online to www.texasmotorspeedway.com.
