SONOMA, Calif. (March 13, 2001) - FOX Sports' coverage of the Cracker Barrel Old Country Store 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, March 11, earned record ratings in the San Francisco market.

The event earned a 3.5 rating (11 share) in San Francisco, which was a 40-percent improvement over last year's race on ABC, which produced a 2.5/8. The percentage gain was the second largest in the country's 10 biggest markets behind Dallas, which saw a 64-percent gain (3.9 to 6.4).

Moreover, the Sacramento market also recorded a 32-percent gain over 2000 for the race in Atlanta. Sacramento posted a 5.4 rating, compared with a 4.1 a year ago.

The overnight national rating for the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway produced a 5.7, up 21-percent over last year's 4.7. The final rating will be released later in the week. This also continued NASCAR's reign as the top-rated sports event of the weekend since the season began at the Daytona 500, Feb. 18.

The San Francisco market has seen an increase in every NASCAR broadcast this year: Budweiser Shootout (+71-percent), Daytona (+30-percent), Rockingham, N.C. (+40-percent) and Las Vegas (+14-percent). The increase in the Budweiser Shootout was the second largest in the country.

A show's rating indicates the percentage of U.S. homes tuned in to it, and a share represents the percentage of television sets tuned in.
