DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 2, 2001) - Grand American Road Racing Association President Roger Edmondson announced today that Rolex Watch USA, Inc., has become the title sponsor of Grand-Am's sports car series. The Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series will feature all five classes of sports car racing: SportsRacing Prototype, SportsRacing Prototype II, GTS, GT and American GT.

"Grand-Am is thrilled to have a prestigious company like Rolex as the title sponsor of our series," Grand-Am President Roger Edmondson said. "We firmly believe that working with Rolex will prove extremely prosperous for the growth of sports car racing in this country."

This weekend's Rolex 24 At Daytona will kick off the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series, which will include 10 races this season. Grand-Am's venture with Rolex as its series' title sponsor is part of a three-year agreement between the two companies. Rolex patches and stickers will be displayed on Grand-Am driver and official uniforms and cars.

"We look forward to supporting Grand-Am and sports car racing in the United States," Rolex Watch USA, Inc., Senior Vice-President Director of Communications William Sullivan said.

Rolex has a history of involvement in sports car racing, with this weekend's race marking the 10th year of Rolex sponsorship of America's most famous - and grueling - sports car race, the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Renowned for its quality, durability and reliability, Rolex is considered a natural sponsor for the unique test of the endurance of man and machine at the Rolex 24 At Daytona and throughout the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series season.
