RML Historic goes public

Since the formation of RML in 1984 the company have successfully competed in a diverse range of motorsport categories with its factory teams. Throughout this period RML have been actively involved in the preparation of historic race cars, again with considerable success. This behind the scenes historic work has now become so popular that RML have decided to create a dedicated division -- RML Historic -- to cater for this growing demand.

RML Historic offer a number of services including restoration, preparation, engine build and development, fabrication, machining, paintwork, electronics, gearbox build and development, car set-up and race programme support. RML have also recently become the exclusive European distributor for BSS Seats which offer increased safety and comfort for the race driver.

Ray Mallock, Chief Executive, commented "There is a growing need for regulated maintenance and controlled regimes within the historic motorsport industry. These cars require the special understanding and attention that can only come from an organisation with design, build and race experience from the early eighties to present day. Many of the cars now racing in historic Group C such as the Ecurie Ecosse C2 and Aston Martin AMR1 started life at RML."

"With numerous historic series enthusiastically embracing these types of car, and similar construction single seat cars, owners will want the assurance that their cars are in expert hands and are prepared properly and safely. With RML Historic you have that assurance."

The division will be headed up by Phil Barker who is also responsible for RML's current Le Mans race programme. Phil's experience in motorsport dates back to the early eighties when he was involved with a number of successful Group C race programmes. He commented "RML recognise the growing need for professional support for historic cars and combine their modern facilities with traditional methods. The division is an evolution of what we have been doing for years."

RML Historic will be exhibiting at the International Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneleigh, Warwickshire from 24th -- 26th February. Visit us at Stand C68.
