The restructuring of the MSA Off Road Car Racing Commission Exco has been finalised.

The Exco, under the presidency of Piet Swanepoel, will in future be divided into three divisions comprising Marketing, Events and Technical.

The Marketing Division will be headed up by Piet Swanepoel and its members will comprise marketing and television consultant Arthur Abraham, Special Vehicle Representative Willie Prinsloo, MSA Marketing Director Andre de Waal, William James from Bankfin and Peter Burroughes representing the three participating manufacturers, namely Ford, Nissan and Toyota.

The Marketing Division's aim will be to centralise communication with sponsors, manufacturers, competitors, event organisers and the media, to optimise event branding and to conduct sponsorship negotiations for the championship and the events.

Peter Mounsear-Wilson will be the chairman of the Events Division whose members will include Piet Swanepoel, Arthur Abraham, Buks Carolin, Richard Leeke, Willie Prinsloo and Production Vehicle Representative Marius Boersma.

The Events Division will be responsible for establishing and implementing an Organising Manual and Safety Plan for all events, evaluating existing and candidate events, establishing the calendar, liaison with organising clubs, approval of event organising budgets and the drafting and implementation of regulations.

The Technical Division will operate under the chairmanship of Dick Sorensen with Willie Prinsloo, Marius Boersma and an manufacturers representative still to be nominated by Ford, Nissan and Toyota.

The Technical Division will review, amend and implement technical rules on an ongoing basis and liase with manufacturers, importers, constructors and privateers on technical issues.

"The way in which the Exco has been restructured will ensure that there is continuity of management, improved communication and a more dynamic approach to marketing and administration of off road car racing," said Piet Swanepoel.

"The Exco is confident that the new structure will take the sport, which we feel is the jewel in South African motorsport's crown, to even greater heights."
