CENTENNIAL, Colo. (December 5, 2001) -- The Sports Car Club of America, Inc. has named Wendy Grillo its Director of Customer Service, a new position created for the 62,000-plus membership organization.

Grillo, who comes to the Sports Car Club of America with extensive restaurant marketing and customer service management experience, will oversee the membership and licensing departments of SCCA, and will direct new customer service initiatives to be launched in the near future.

"Wendy's work experience with some well-known national and regional restaurants makes her a perfect candidate for this position, which will be one of the most important in our organization," said Steve Johnson, President and CEO of SCCA, Inc. "The number one issue for the SCCA is customer service. We're a membership-driven business, which means our members are our first priority. The creation of this position and Wendy's hiring are an important part continuing forward with our strategic plan."

"Being a membership organization, customer service should always be in the forefront of what we do, and I'm looking forward to the challenges ahead," said Grillo. "I grew up in an SCCA household. My father was the Regional Executive of his region back in the 1950s, and my husband and I are members, so I understand the importance of having a service-oriented national headquarters, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to make it a better office for our members to work with."

Grillo comes to the SCCA after serving as Group Marketing Manager for CORT Furniture Rental in Denver for the last two years. Previously, she served as Vice President of Hospitality Marketing Resources in Dallas, developing store marketing and service techniques for clients. Her restaurant experience includes director-level marketing positions with such chains as Rock Bottom Restaurants (Denver, Colo.), Einstein Brothers Bagels (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Quizno's Classic Subs (Denver, Colo.) and the Olive Garden Italian Restaurant (Orlando, Fla.). A graduate of the University of Central Florida with graduate work at Rollins College's School of Business, Grillo and her husband, Gary, currently live in Evergreen, Colo.

Grillo will start with SCCA December 6. Her duties overseeing membership and licensing will eventually take the place of Brenda Winters, who will retire from the company January 15.
